
Seth Godin
Seth Godin, born on July 10, 1960, in Mount Vernon, New York, is a renowned American author, entrepreneur, and marketing expert. He graduated from Williamsville East High School in 1978 and pursued a degree in computer science and philosophy at Tufts University, where he graduated in 1982. Godin later earned an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Godin began his career in marketing as a brand manager at Spinnaker Software before founding Seth Godin Productions, a book packaging company. In 1995, he launched Yoyodyne, a pioneering internet-based direct marketing firm that popularized the concept of permission marketing. Yoyodyne was acquired by Yahoo! in 1998, where Godin served as Vice President of Direct Marketing until 2000.
He is the author of over 20 bestselling books translated into more than 35 languages, including notable titles such as Purple Cow (2003), The Dip (2007), Linchpin (2010), and This Is Marketing (2018). His works focus on innovative marketing strategies, leadership, and the importance of creativity in business.
In addition to his writing, Godin founded Squidoo in 2006, a platform for user-generated content that was sold to HubPages in 2014. He also launched Akimbo, an educational initiative aimed at fostering community learning experiences.
Godin is known for his influential blog and podcast, Akimbo, where he shares insights on marketing and entrepreneurship. He has been recognized for his contributions to the field with various awards, including induction into the American Marketing Association’s Marketing Hall of Fame in 2018.
Seth Godin resides in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, with his wife Helene and their two sons. He continues to inspire audiences worldwide through his writings and public speaking engagements.
