
Dambisa Moyo
Dambisa Moyo (born February 2, 1969) is a Zambian-born economist and author recognized for her critical analysis of macroeconomics and global affairs. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Oxford, an MPA from Harvard University, and an MBA from American University, where she also earned a BS in chemistry.
Moyo has worked at the World Bank and Goldman Sachs, where she focused on global macroeconomics and investment strategies. She is the author of several bestselling books, including Dead Aid: Why Aid Is Not Working and How There Is a Better Way for Africa (2009), which critiques foreign aid’s impact on African development, and How the West Was Lost (2011).
In 2022, she was appointed Baroness Moyo in the House of Lords, becoming a prominent voice in discussions on economic policy and governance. Moyo serves on the boards of several major corporations, including 3M and Chevron, and has been recognized as one of TIME magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World.” She is also an avid marathon runner.
