Brooke Harrington is an economic sociologist specializing in the offshore financial system and the professionals who manage it. Her research explores political and economic inequality, globalization, and the dynamics of financial institutions, focusing on the daily actions of social actors and their macro-level impact on markets, culture, and political systems. Her work draws from political economy, anthropology, social psychology, and behavioral finance.

Since 2007, Harrington has conducted extensive ethnographic research on offshore finance, earning a wealth management credential and spending years interviewing practitioners across 18 global financial hubs. Her findings have advanced understanding in inequality, political economy, and professional practices, contributing to key academic literatures.

Previously, Harrington studied deception and fraud in financial markets and analyzed how diversity influences the decision-making and performance of investment groups. Her work offers critical insights into the mechanisms shaping economic and social inequality.
